About

I am an avid, lifelong learner pushing myself to the professional limits. I have won the academic trifecta in Romance Languages: B.A., Ph.D. and Tenure. Although I compete to finish the race first, I have a big heart. In academia, I am known as kind, funny and honest. I have the stamina to win the Triple Crown, and the heart to personally grow at each mile mark of my training.

Race horse at finish line

When I pivoted to remote learning in 2020, I adapted by moving quickly from emergency to sustainable instructional modes. A long-time advocate for digital literacy in the humanities, I blended project-based learning approaches with web-based content and activities including learning management systems, external tools and WordPress. Then I turned my attention to supporting faculty at large with a focus on humanizing asynchronous online learning as well as synchronous class meetings on Zoom.

A higher ed instructor for thirty years, I enjoy curricular planning the most whether I’m developing a lesson or reviewing a new major for the university. During the Covid-19 era, colleagues rely on my strategies for keeping students engaged online. The skills and insights I have gained taking classes at the Harvard Extension School inform the consulting I provide. I expect to receive a graduate certificate in Learning Design and Technology in 2021.

This is not about going back. This is about life being ahead of you and you run at it! Because you never know how far you can run unless you run.
